the frog in hot water

A friend urged me to read The China Study and I have to say, it’s frightening. This represents the largest nutritional study ever done in the history of the world. The results are quite dramatic, with remarkable correlations between health and a plant-based diet. The lead researcher was from Cornell and he partnered with a group from Oxford. Ultimately WE are like the frog in hot water: if you attempt to put a frog into hot water, it quickly hops out. If however you put the frog in cool water, slowly heating the water containing the frog, it fails to notice the increasing danger until it’s too late. I’m afraid that we are in VERY hot water, from a health perspective.
The lead researcher grew up on a dairy farm and began his professional scientific career trying to improve the quality of animal protein to help improve health around the world. At that time, everyone in the scientific community was convinced that animal proteins were the most important nutrients to keep us healthy and strong. The conclusions of The China Study prove that excess animal protein is what is killing Americans at a far faster rate than any other first world country on the planet. Even a simple glass of milk has been shown to be responsible for increasing cancer in mice and humans alike. I urge everyone to read The China Study. You’ll never be able to eat the way we’ve been taught to eat again.
Once the shock subsides however, we can all take heart in the blessing of tea. Yes tea, that simple plant-based beverage has lots to offer each and every one of us. So please, brew up some tea, find a comfortable chair and begin working your way through this critical piece of nutritional history. Despite the powerful meat and dairy lobbies, the evidence is irrefutable, and the research is solid. It is actually rare to find such dramatic results. While I didn’t see any headlines in the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Los Angeles Times, and several foreign newspapers did report the findings.
For those of you who hate to read this type of material, it is available on CD for your listening pleasure. The author is very easy to listen to and he’s approached the material with the intention of communicating it to the general population. No Ph.D’s or M.D’s required.
