Regena Rafelson

Regena Rafelson was born and raised in the Columbia River Gorge, witnessed all the memorable weather events: Columbus Day Storm of 1962; floods from 1964 to 2006; the blowing of Mt. St. Helens in 1980; and the first visit of Thomas the Tanker Train. She has summitted most of the Cascade Volcanoes, including 6/7 of Mt. Rainier. Formerly an avid backpacker, and telemark skier, gravity has taken its toll. She is content with hiking the Columbia River Gorge, "You could take a different hike every day for 75 days, all of them uphill at least one way." Fearing that her stepchildren will place her in an assisted care facility in Rockaway, Oregon, Regena has recently switched to tea after a thirty year affair with espresso. She is an English teacher at the high school level. On Tuesdays, tea is served in each class.
