Amanda Thomas
Spawn of a marathon runner, Amanda has been a vigilante about what is allowed to enter her body since before she could write her name in cursive. Of course, having grandparents who own and operate an organic farm, yeoman style, in the Columbia Gorge probably didn't help much either. An awareness of consumption quickly led to a personal preference for teas and infusions; there was never a kool-aid period. She has been a writer her entire life, and though her love of teas has never diminished, it has certainly evolved. Weaned the British way from milk to tea, she abandoned bags of Lipton quickly for something requiring a little more involvement and ritual. While visiting Japan in the April of 2003, her love of green teas compounded and took the forefront of her tea infatuation until the summer spent as a barista introduced her to yerba mate. Amanda is thrilled to have finally found a way to intertwine the two great loves of her life, writing and tea, here at T Ching. As a sophomore English major with experience working for three non-profits already under her belt, she has a lot to learn and to offer.
