Advantages of green tea extract

An advantage of green tea capsules - or green tea extract - is that you don’t actually have to drink green tea to reap its benefits. In capsule form, green tea (Camellia sinensis) facilitates weight loss and helps people who have metabolic problems.
Weight Loss
If you have hypothyroidism or want to lose weight, consider green tea extract. According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consuming “green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a measure of metabolism), plus also had a significant effect on fat oxidation.” Taking green tea extract, along with exercise, is a simple way to improve your metabolism.
More Antioxidants
According to a study from WebMD Health News, taking green tea capsules or supplements allows one’s body to absorb more of the healthy antioxidants from green tea. In general, green tea has more antioxidants than black tea. Antioxidants combat cancer as they decrease cellular by-products, or free radicals.
Fighting Off Disease
Consuming green tea extract is also helpful in preventing cancer. Several peer-reviewed studies have determined that this type of extract can kill cancer cells. According to the Mayo Clinic, taking green tea capsules improves leukemia outcomes in three out of four patients.
If you would prefer not to buy capsules, try increasing your green tea intake by drinking a few more cups a day. Green tea often stands up well to multiple steepings, if you are low on funds. Whether you like to drink your green tea with sugar, honey, agave, or just plain, green tea has enormous health and anti-stress benefits.

Just as I was reading this, I looked over at a small bottle of green tea extract I had sourced to work with for adding to various specialty foods or beverages. It is in liquid form and suggests using 7-10 ml. per read to drink gallon. The same company also has white and black tea extracts. People are asking about health benefits of tea and herbals regularly and it’s difficult to be firm on statistics with studies showing varying results. I’ve asked my husband to stop giving a ’so many times’ more number on antioxidant value for anything because another study may dispute it. In fact, I’m seeing more people asking for actual ‘prescriptives’ for weight loss, sore throats, even chronic serious diseases. In general, I just tell people that tea is a healthy beverage which studies are showing has many benefits. And I’ve seen customers physically benefit from tea and herbals, in losing weight and overall better health, even those with problems such as diabetes.

I would have to agree with Diane. Different studies report different outcomes. What we do know is that drinking green tea has lots of health advantages. It is perhaps the original health beverage - thousands of years old.
