The rosy light of dawn that softly steals upon
Often darkened places left and right.
Golden beams show hidden places, cast gentle shadows on the faces
Of friends brewing tea by the new light.
Then, the real shadows of noon are on us far too soon
And we stall in frozen time for a spell
Just make a pot of tea, and suddenly you’ll see
The leaves have a subtle secret here to tell.
When the slanted rays of dusk race on by us, as they must
Minutes are remembered and held fast
Decades might disappear, but always do hold dear
That loving cup of tea until the last.
