MSNBC reported on a recent, large scale government survey which confirms a disturbing fact. Our preschoolers are experiencing an increase in cavities which they’re linking to the obesity problem. “Tooth decay in young children’s baby teeth is on the rise, a worrying trend that signals the preschool crowd is eating too much sugar, according to the largest government study of the nation’s dental health in more than 25 years.”
As I have mentioned a few times, by switching to tea and shifting away from high sugar beverages and juices, we can impact both of these troublesome issues. Don’t forget to use some white tea as a gargle for the whole family, swishing it around in your mouth after brushing your teeth, just before bed. My dentist actually said he didn’t even recognize my mouth after I’d been doing that for 6 months. My gingivitis was a thing of the past and not one cavity in the last 4 years. To read the whole story, you’ll find it here.

Thank You Michelle, I have had some extensive work done lately, and my dentist gave me a fluoride rinse that is very potent, and a pain to use. I’ll try the white tea starting tonight…PJF

thanks.
Do you have any info or posts on why gargling/rinsing with white tea is healthy for your mouth/teeth?
Thanks!
Yes, Anonymous, you can start by reading this interview with Dr. Milton Schiffenbauer who is one of the leading researchers on white tea and oral health.
For your convenience, here is another article discussing the health benefits of white tea, including its effects on oral health.
Thanks Sandy – Dr. Schiffenbauer’s article is an authoritative study on white tea’s usefulness for human health.
Darjeeling gardens should make more and more white teas, whereever and whenever possible – to cater to growing consumer demand in north America.
Kudos Sandy! This Blog and Web Site is validating the efforts our new and fledgling Specialty Tea business is trying to make towards educating the people here in the Mid-Atlantic Region about quality tea products, and for me an old institutional beverage distributor, it’s a whole new world of excellence from the second most consumed beverage in the world. Michelle and Sandy you have opened a wonderful educational venture for us all by providing a venue to express our views. Thank You….PJF
