How do I love tea? Let me count the ways
I love tea to the depth and breadth and height
My taste buds reach: subtle greens; sweet, sweet white;
Or the mellow Oolong, Darjeeling’s grace.
I love tea, to the level of each day’s
Urgent need for a beverage, just right
Senses dazzled, by choices infinite.
I love tea, therefore boredom seldom stays
I love tea with passion, unique, profuse –
As a newly found lover’s mystery
I love tea with a love I seemed to lose
Quickly with Starbucks. Latte as hist’ry
When I grow feeble, I shall never be
Without my true love, a cup of hot tea.

Seems truly from the heart – your love for tea. Loved it!!
The poem is a parody of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s famous sonnet, “How do I Love Thee?” This sonnet was memorized by every eighth grader in my class, Spring of 1966. Glad you enjoyed my version!
